District Governor: Kel Carr (Rotary Club of Heidelberg)

It was learnt that the Turana Boys Home was in need of some Gymnasium Equipment; this was considered a worthwhile project so one of our members visited Turana and discussed with the management the most suitable type of equipment required. This was eventually obtained and supplied at a cost of $340. A letter of appreciation was received from the management of Turana.
A Wine Tasting Function was held at Gini’s to raise funds for our Club; a most successful evening was spent with the members and their ladies and friends attending.
A Beach Day was held at the Mornington home of Jock and Louise Summerfield and it was a most successful day. The weather was perfect for a visit to the beach and was well attended.
A well attended Careers Night was held in conjunction with the Coburg Rotary Club when the Coburg Club carried out the main organisation.
A Ladies Night was held at the R.A.C.V. Club in Queen Street, Melbourne and it was well attended with all present enjoying a wonderful night.
Our Club was asked to collect books to aid the International Bursary Fund and some 30,000 books were collected. This was quite an effort.
The Asian Nurses picnic was held at the Healesville Sanctuary. The Nurses were collected from the various hospitals and taken by our members and families to Healesville. The weather was perfect and a most enjoyable day was had by all.
The Sheltered Workshop is operating very well and the numbers attending are increasing steadily.
Our Club has been honoured by our member, Norm Balfe, being appointed Life Governor of Mount Royal Hospital.
