Our Rotary Club sent a student, Thomas Roy Cryer, to Sydney to complete a special course carried out by the Australian Outward Bound Memorial Foundation; the cost of this was $200.
Two ladies were nominated to attend the “RYLA” Rotary Youth Leadership Award Seminar which was arranged by the Rotary Club of Box Hill. The cost to our Club was $100.
A Theatre Night was held at the “Princess Theatre” as a money making project; this was very well attended and was a financial success.
The Sheltered Workshop by now was beginning to become a really worthwhile project. For the month of September 1969, revenue had exceeded expenditure, and this continued which was very gratifying to our Rotary Club members.
A member of our Club who was closely associated with the Turana Boys Home indicated that they required paint and materials for the boys to keep the buildings on their premises in order. This was supplied by our Rotary Club.
To assist the Marjorie Nunan Memorial Homes our members placed money boxes at many locations around Brunswick. The result of this effort was the sum of $255 being raised.
A Rotary Scholarship was presented to the Brunswick Girls High School and advice and monetary assistance was given for the addition of a Library at the school.
Our Rotary Club formed and chartered an Interact Club at the Brunswick Girls High school. This continued for some years during which time the girls assisted in various projects in the Brunswick area including the Sheltered Workshop.
The Asian Nurses Picnic was held at Lake Eppalock Camp site. Twenty four nurses from various hospitals were present along with 13 students from International House and several Interact members and were transported by bus provided by our Club.
The whole project with presents for each, cost our Club $220. Present also were quite a number of our members and friends.
Power was fitted by the S.E.C. to the camp site at a very small cost, this being arranged by one of our members.
A Wine Tasting Night was held at the home of George Churches and was a most successful evening both as a social and money making project.
