Student Community Achievement Award for Brunswick Secondary College We recently had the pleasure of attending the first assembly of the year at Brunswick Secondary College to present our Student Community Achievement Award to Georgia Coventry Poole. One of the great things was to see that last year's winner was one of the year 11 co-captains for this year. Georgia is a girl with a bright outlook who won the award for her efforts in helping getting things done around the school. No airs and graces, just getting the job done. Reminds me of Rotary. The rest of the assembly was equally rewarding, with a number of last years year 12 students dropping in to provide hints on how to survive VCE (and tips on partying at Uni as well). I would like to congratulate Georgia on being a very worthy recipient of our award, and would also like to thank the Principal, Claude Sgroi for his hospitality. I hope Georgia uses her book vouchers to good effect. Laptop for Brunswick Secondary College To assist students with homework assignments without the resources to own their own lapstop, the club has donated a laptop computer to Brunswick Secondary College. The computer will be able to be borrowed through the school's library and was very well received by the students and teachers. Initially organised by immediate Past President Doug Walsh, the computer was presented to the Year 9 group on 14 September 2006 by Club President Adam Ramage, along with New Generations Director David Kennedy and Club Treasurer Mel Kennedy, who took the photos and organised the purchase.

Locally, 178 boys and girls of primary school age met for Auskick this season on Saturday mornings at the A.G. Dillon Oval in Brunswick. Auskick provides fun physical activity for kids to enjoy learning footy skills with their friends The custom made trolley helps Auskick volunteers set up and pack up the equipment, and got a great reception from the kids when presented at the final Saturday weekly program for 2006 (12 August 2006). The presentation was made by Brunswick Rotary’s club president Adam Ramage, who is also a volunteer parent with the local Auskick program. Thanks to Brunswick Rotarian Peter Johnstone and his company Wiretainers Pty Ltd of Preston for the design and construction of the trolley.
